Wardens Cabin

Panorama, BC, Canada

Conceived as the original park warden’s cabin for a romantic American client, the home consists of a series of small cabins following the natural grade of the site. The dovetail log cabins are reminiscent of cabins used by American politicians since Teddy Rosevelt to demonstrate their rural roots. Each cabin appears to have grown organically from the first, as if built over the course of decades as the warden’s family expanded. Connecting small cabins together allows the beauty of the log walls to be enjoyed in every space.

Following the slope the deck connects the master and other bedrooms to the dining room and dining deck while allowing ski-in and ski-out living. The covered living room deck allows a more sheltered vantage point to watch skiers in the winter and pass on golf tips in the summer.

From the dovetail log walls and rusty steel roof to the vintage taps and interior finishes all elements combine to create a rustic vintage feel with modern luxury. A detached garage with nanny suite over provides the last of 6 bedrooms for this 5000 sq.ft. expansive family home in a ski resort.
